I tried to join <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/alovelyyearoffinishes/" target="_blank">A Lovely Year of Finishes</a> last year, but it was a dismal failure. I missed the linky every single time by a day or so, and then I finally gave up. I'm hoping that because the FAL 2014 is only every quarter, I should be able to actually post about my plans and finishes. Please, cross your fingers for me.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm going easy on myself this quarter. We will most likely be putting the house on the market in the next month or so, so I will have to pack up most of my sewing room so it looks pretty. That makes sewing pretty tough. I am not neat or organized.<br />
<br />
Overall, my goal this year is to work on actual quilts. I've been distracted in the past couple of years on sewing small projects, kids clothes, and swap projects. This year I'd like to finish some quilts. I'm going to force myself to finish one WIP, and then let myself start something new. And I might even abandon some projects this year too.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Goals:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. Constellations Quilt<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="640" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/11223776686/player/0829daa9c4" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="637"></iframe><br /></div>
<div>
<br />
I'm quilting this one right now. All of the blue is quilted already with simple lines on each side of every seam. Now I'm working on the background, with just a simple loops and stars free motion. I want to send this one off asap, so it is at the top of the list.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
2. Heather Ross Swoon<br />
<br /></div>
</div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="639" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/11906847455/player/b8e28563f9" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This one is easy! I'm sending it off to <a href="http://www.chelseaquilts.com/" target="_blank">Chelsea</a> on Monday to be quilted, and when it comes back, I'll just have to bind it. I'm thinking dark brown HR wildflowers.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3. Yellow/Aqua/Grey Flying Geese<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxzk-33b_GMJXv0fOWTO6VIN6A4y1WuOWgD5M20wxMOpGwTXUAcNU1nAam_UtjD_qmiJ86q0C8zMyYWhRPP22NaEC0IwsPIVkB__rOcxLNBtmwql9kKVaOA53MtvqeEfGUbiUmcSWe8A/s1600/IMG_0601.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxzk-33b_GMJXv0fOWTO6VIN6A4y1WuOWgD5M20wxMOpGwTXUAcNU1nAam_UtjD_qmiJ86q0C8zMyYWhRPP22NaEC0IwsPIVkB__rOcxLNBtmwql9kKVaOA53MtvqeEfGUbiUmcSWe8A/s1600/IMG_0601.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Okay, I've never shared this one, but I made the quilt top at a quilt retreat when I was pregnant with Little Miss S. She's now almost 3. It is basted and ready to be quilted.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
4. Sparkle Punch<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="528" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/6775446696/player/91d79b1b51" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
Hmm. This photo is from February 2012. That is almost 2 years ago!<br />
<br />
<br />
5. Red/Aqua Pillow?<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="612" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/10145729634/player/b8ca623e11" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="612"></iframe><br />
<br />
Not too sure about this one. I started it as a mini, but I think it will turn into a pillow top. Should it be a Christmas pillow with a green binding? Or just stay with the red/grey/aqua?<br />
<br />
Okay, I think that is a reasonable list of goals. What are you working on this quarter? Are you joining any linky parties? How do you keep your WIPs under control?</div>

<br />
Although I am trying to cut down on swaps and bees, I joined the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/2195092@N23/" target="_blank">Munki in the Middle Bee</a> last fall. I love this bee because I get to use all of my favourite (and much hoarded Heather Ross fabrics) and it includes a great bunch of women. We've been making + plus x blocks, and lots of stars, all with beautiful Heather Ross centres.<br />
<br />
Once I had all of my lovelies pulled out, I couldn't resist making something for myself too. I was inspired by the Swoon wall hanging that is hanging in the background of <a href="http://camilleroskelley.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Camille's</a> <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/class/pre-cut-piecing-made-simple/188?_ct=iuqhsx-kdyluhiqb-huikbj-sekhiu&_ctp=188" target="_blank">Craftsy</a> class. One lone Swoon block surrounded by a big white border. But I wanted to use as many of my HR fabrics as possible, so I went with more of a scrappy colour scheme.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="640" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/11631166703/player/4555c1efa6" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
I forced the pattern a bit. I know that most of my blues/aquas are actually white/low volume, but I wanted the sushi, fish in bags and giant octopus in there, so I made it work. I moved a couple of blocks around.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="640" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/11647776353/player/a53ddcfb14" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
And then added a big 6" white border.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="639" mozallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/11906847455/player/b8e28563f9" webkitallowfullscreen="" width="640"></iframe><br />
<br />
I was going to simply quilt this with cross-hatch pattern, and then I had a much better idea. I'm sending this quilt off to <a href="http://www.chelseaquilts.com/" target="_blank">Chelsea</a> on Monday to be custom long-arm quilted. Chelsea already sent me some ideas for the quilting, think swirls and pebbles, and I am so excited. Originally I thought I would hang it in the girls' room, but now I think it is calling to be in my sewing room. Is it crazy for a grown woman to love Heather Ross so much?<br />
<br />
And finally, thank you so much for all of your kind words of support on my last post about moving. We found out last week that we are moving back to Prince George. And I'm very happy. We know people there. They have all the activities and schooling options that I want. We are hoping that the kids and I can stay here until the school year is over, but we'll see how things go. You know how it goes, <span style="background-color: white;">"<span style="color: #001504;">the best-laid schemes o' mice an 'men gang aft agley."</span></span><span style="background-color: #f3edcd; color: #001504;"> </span><br />
<span style="background-color: #f3edcd; color: #001504;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: #f3edcd; color: #001504;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>Sorry about the Robbie Burns reference. <br />
I joined the Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt Swap. My partner, <a href="http://lalakidsbyme.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Filomena</a>, loves everything red & aqua, so I purchased <a href="http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com/product/mini-puddle-jumping-paper-pattern-168" target="_blank">Camille's new Mini Puddle Jumping pattern</a>, and dug out some of my favourite fabrics.<br />

These blocks are teeny. They measure 3.5" unfinished!<br />

<br />
I also received a lovely quilt from Nikol. She's an aqua lover too, so she used tiny pieces to make a ticker-tape quilt. She even added a touch of orange - my favourite colour scheme. (Nikol, if you are reading this, can you say hello, so I can follow you on flickr/instragram and say a proper thank you?)<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cute little orange rectangle hiding in the sea of aqua.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I'm working on some other swaps too, so hopefully I'll blog about them soon. Things are pretty crazy here. Last month, we found out that the mill that my husband works for is closing in March. Thankfully, it doesn't mean that we'll be out on the street, but it does mean that we're most likely going to have to move sometime next year. That will be 3 moves in 4 years. Yikes. I am starting to hate moving. As of right now, we don't know where it will be, but likely further north. I am just hoping that we can move to a town big enough to have French Immersion and Highland Dancing. Apparently, those two things are extremely important to me. Two of my kids are in French Immersion (Grade 2 and Kindergarten) and I teach FI Kindergarten part-time too. And, my daughter is an extremely talented Highland Dancer. I'd hate for her to have to give it up. I Highland Dance here too, but I've accepted my fate that I'll have to give it up when we move. There aren't many places with recreational adult Highland Dancing. Don't you hate it when you have weird hobbies?<br />
<br />
Sorry for the rant. And Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American quilty friends.Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-9733433189027018262013-10-07T15:58:00.001-07:002013-10-07T15:58:58.861-07:00A Bear Paw Mini QuiltI volunteered to be an angel for the last round of the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/modernscrappybitsswap/" target="_blank">Modern Scrappy Bits Swap</a>. I was especially happy to help out when I learned that it was <a href="http://learningtosewasigo.blogspot.ca/#axzz2h508ITnN" target="_blank">Deanna</a> that still hadn't received from her partner. Deanna sent me a <a href="http://quiltingbarbie.blogspot.ca/2013/09/where-did-september-go-catch-up-post.html" target="_blank">gorgeous charm pack and pouch</a> for another swap, and only lives a province away.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/10089374985/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Bearpaw Quilt Block by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Bearpaw Quilt Block" height="427" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5445/10089374985_c966287931_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sleeping Beauty</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Deanna likes modern whimsical fabric (a la <a href="http://heatherross.squarespace.com/journal/" target="_blank">Heather Ross</a>, <a href="http://comfortstitching.typepad.co.uk/" target="_blank">Aneela Hoey</a> and <a href="http://sarahjanestudios.com/blog/" target="_blank">Sarah Jane</a>), and she was looking for something to hang in her little girls' room. I had a ton of fun rummaging through my scrap bin, and playing with my favourite fabrics.<br />
<br />
This is what I came up with:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/10089400645/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Heather Ross Mini Quilt by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Heather Ross Mini Quilt" height="640" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5542/10089400645_24a57b2b64_z.jpg" width="639" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bear Paw Mini Quilt by Quilting Barbie</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I used <a href="http://www.unitednotions.com/MSM-Aneela-Hoey.pdf" target="_blank">Aneela's Bear Paw pattern </a>to make 3.5" blocks. The pattern is great because it offers instructions on how to make five different sizes (3.5", 6", 12", 18" and 24") of bear paw blocks. I chose the smallest. And now I can't wait to make some in the bigger sizes. Don't you think that the Lush Uptown Deer would be lovely in a bear paw pillow?<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Angel Swap Package by Quilting Barbie</td></tr>

The next round of the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/modernscrappybitsswap/" target="_blank">Modern Scrappy Bits Swap</a> is starting soon. Are you joining?Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-87403860051475450742013-10-04T06:49:00.000-07:002013-10-04T06:49:10.492-07:00Drunkard's Path: A Finished QuiltThis quilt was actually finished, and mailed off to it's new owner eons ago, but I never got a chance to share the finished quilt. Here she is.<br />

<br />
In the end, I was completely thrilled with how it turned out. At first, I was a <a href="http://quiltingbarbie.blogspot.ca/2013/06/drunkards-path-quilt.html" target="_blank">bit nervous about all the bright colours</a>, and then there was the whole q<a href="http://quiltingbarbie.blogspot.ca/2013/06/frustrated.html" target="_blank">uilting/machine eating my thread fiasco</a>. But now that it is finished, sent away, and loved by it's new owner, I'm quite proud of my quilt.<br />

The real reason I haven't shared the quilt is that I am not happy with the photos that I took of it. I was in a rush to get it in the mail, so I quickly snapped a few shots in the evening after the kids were in bed. Not a great time to take photos. This is really something that I need to work on. Do you have any great tips? I just got a hand-me-down DSLR from my Mom, but I'm still using the auto focus. I need to learn how to use the manual settings!<br />

A catch up post.Wow, I can't believe September is almost over! It has been a very busy month for us. My son started Kindergarten, my oldest daughter started Grade 2, and sweet Little Miss S started back at daycare. I am teaching French Immersion Kindergarten (my son's class) two afternoons a week again this year. In all of my years of teaching, this is the first time that I've ever done the same job two years in a row. I am really enjoying having another go at it.<br />
<br />
And still, there has been some time for sewing. I promised to show off the charm pack that I created for <a href="http://cathy-blueberrypatch.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Cathy</a>. Cathy also wrote a very sweet blog post about it, so if you want to see the rest, go check them out <a href="http://cathy-blueberrypatch.blogspot.ca/2013/08/be-still-my-beating-heart.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Here's a peek:<br />

I've also received a few amazing swap parcels in the last little bit. <a href="http://learningtosewasigo.blogspot.ca/#axzz2gJVoFZaa" target="_blank">Deanna from Little D and me</a>, sent me a sweet little pouch and 50 amazing charm squares for the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/simplesweetscrappyswap/" target="_blank">Simple & Sweet Scrappy Swap. </a><br />

A bunch of them have already been used in a quick little baby quilt that I just had to make. (No, it's not for me). Thank you so much, Deanna. I love them. Especially those little foxes. And the Tula Pink. And the beautifully textured organic fabric. And...okay, I love them all.<br />

I also received a special package from <a href="http://www.craftyshenanigans.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Amy in the UK</a> for the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/modernscrappybitsswap/" target="_blank">Modern Scrappy Bits Swap</a>. This really is one of my favourite swaps. Amy made a mug rug that is just my style, and sent some gorgeous scraps. Thank you Amy!<br />

Finally, I just received a beautiful package of fabric from Helen from all the way in Australia. We had a private swap, and she sent me some beautiful <a href="http://saffroncraig.com/" target="_blank">Saffron Craig</a> fabric. I am new to this Australian designer, but I'm smitten. The colours are beautiful and vibrant. I hope to make a special project (probably a cushion cover or a table runner) with the fabric. Thank you Helen for the wonderful swap!<br />

<br />
<br />
And other than getting great mail, I've been trying to finish a few things. Hopefully I'll post again before yet another month goes by.<br />

How was your September?Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-9518426979966148402013-08-19T14:16:00.000-07:002013-08-19T14:16:08.600-07:00Simple & Sweet Scrappy SwapI know it might come as a bit of a surprise, but I joined <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/simplesweetscrappyswap/" target="_blank">another swap</a> on flickr earlier this summer. This one is the Simple & Sweet Scrappy Swap. And now, with the deadline looming, I finally sat down to cut up 50 charms and make a simple pouch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9550526878/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="HR Pouch Close Up by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="HR Pouch Close Up" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7294/9550526878_08e4b0fb35_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My partner said she likes Heather Ross, so I dug into my scrap bin, and made two simple nine-patches for the pouch.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9550536640/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="HR Pouch Side 2 by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="HR Pouch Side 2" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7315/9550536640_315d48e324_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Heather Ross Scrap Pouch</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Although linen, a neutral solid, or even low volume would have been the expected choice for the border of the nine-patches, I decided that I didn't want to do the expected. I have tons of Brown Posies in my scrap bins (it was the backing of my<a href="http://quiltingbarbie.blogspot.ca/2013/03/finally-finished.html" target="_blank"> Maple Leaf Rag</a> - which, by the way, I really need to finish hand-sewing the binding so I can show it off), and I thought the colours helped to unite some of the colours of the HR scraps.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9547744807/" title="HR Pouch Side 1 by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="HR Pouch Side 1" height="427" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5488/9547744807_e17fd10b0e_z.jpg" width="640" /></a>
<br />
<br />
It does strike a bit of the 1970's, with all the orange, brown and teal, but I'm okay with that. I <i>was</i> born in the 1970's after all, so it can't be all that bad.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9550519808/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Hello 1970s! by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Hello 1970s!" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7414/9550519808_18e5f78b1c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Heather Ross Zippered Pouch</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I'm not going to show all of the charms just yet, I want my partner to get them first. But I promise I'll show them then. They are worth waiting for!<br />

I especially love simple and quick swaps. One of my favourite is Leona's <a href="http://oneygirl-myquiltingadventure.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Modern Scrappy Bits Swap</a>. A quick project made with scraps, a fat quarters worth of scraps, a sewing notion and a postcard. Easy peasy.<br />
<br />
I've participated in all four rounds that she's hosted. And this time, we were asked to make mug rugs. To be honest, I really don't care for mug rugs. I think it is kind of silly to have a rug just for a mug. My kids would swipe it in an instant for a doll quilt, Lego tent or train shed. So I just hang them on my wall.<br />
<br />
I found a <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/other/mini-dresden-plate-/8021http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/other/mini-dresden-plate-/8021">fun (and free) pattern</a> on Craftsy for a mini-Dresden. The pattern includes photo instructions and a template for the wedges. The pattern calls for 19 wedges, but for some reason I could only fit 18. I'll try it again and see how many fit. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9399253514/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Mini Dresden by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Mini Dresden" height="612" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2819/9399253514_83b2d8b256_z.jpg" width="612" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Rainbow Mini Dresden</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The downside of the pattern is that it does not include a circle template. I found glass to trace, and used <a href="http://www.sewmamasew.com/2010/04/dresden-plate-block-sew-along/" target="_blank">Oh Fransson's tutorial</a> to make the centre. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9402620322/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Is the bike too much? Should I go for plain black and white dots? by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Is the bike too much? Should I go for plain black and white dots?" height="612" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7354/9402620322_1908e647a4_z.jpg" width="612" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And because I hate hand sewing, I sewed it down by machine. I think it would have looked nicer hand-stitched, (and hand quilted) so next time I'm going to give it a try.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9459433078/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Rainbow Dresden by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Rainbow Dresden" height="427" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2849/9459433078_b50e0169cd_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Rainbow Mini Dresden Mug Rug</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
My partner asked for scraps in gray, green and blue, so this is what I pulled out of the bins. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9456666489/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Scraps for my partner by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Scraps for my partner" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7294/9456666489_958be98d32_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Blue, Green and Gray Scraps<br />
<br />
<div align="left">
</div>
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And the package is now on it's way. Leona's already talking about <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/modernscrappybitsswap/discuss/72157634909148446/">Round 5</a> of the swap, with a Quilt As You Go theme. If you are interested, I definitely recommend joining.<br />
<br />
What about you? Are you a swapper? <br />

I love these blocks because I get to use my favourite scraps, and it feels like a puzzle putting all of the pieces together.<br />
<br />
I started with green. Really, I could probably make five more in green....there are just so many green scraps.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9145402974/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Quilt block for Southern Alberta #justoneslab by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Quilt block for Southern Alberta #justoneslab" height="612" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5332/9145402974_aa1a94facd_z.jpg" width="612" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Green slab block for Southern Alberta</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
That block was so fun, I decided to make a pink one:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/9146642614/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Block #2 for Alberta. #justoneslab by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Block #2 for Alberta. #justoneslab" height="612" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5324/9146642614_e6b8b5afaf_z.jpg" width="612" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pink Slab block for Southern Alberta</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Then last Friday, I took a trip to visit my friend, <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/peanutpants/">Kristine</a>. She has amazing scraps. And she loves 'girly' fabrics in pink and purple. She was sweet to let me dig through her scraps and take some home to make more slab blocks. I couldn't resist the cute seahorse in this one:<br />
<br />

<br />
Here are a couple of quick hints on how to make a successful slab/crazy pieced block:<br />
<ol>
<li>Sort your scraps before you start. If you have lots of scraps (like me), you may be able to make a light and dark block from each colour. I did find that some scraps fit well into both the light and dark blocks. </li>
<li>Don't think about it too much, just sew.</li>
<li>Start by sewing 6 or 7 sets together of one colour. Then add to those sets at least once before you start sewing the sets together. This will help you avoid a log cabin look to your block.</li>
<li>Once you have some larger pieces, I lay them out on my cutting mat, and start puzzling them together. </li>
<li>Don't think about it too much, just sew.</li>
<li>Make your block at least an inch bigger than you need (15.5"). I didn't want any seams in my seam allowance, and having a bigger block allowed me to trim as needed.</li>
<li>Once I got started, I made 2 or 3 blocks at the same time, which lets you chain piece. But once I got to the puzzling stage, I focused on just one block at a time.</li>
<li>Don't think about it too much, just sew.</li>
</ol>
These blocks are very addictive. And to be honest, I think they are one of those blocks that look better in real life than in pictures. Now I want to make an entire quilt. And of course, I have enough scraps.<br />
<br />

<br />
We've now lived in our new house for just over a year. When we moved, we bought our first ever, brand new chesterfield/sofa/couch. And for the entire year I had the pillows from the factory just sitting there, begging for fun, patchwork pillow covers.<br />
<br />
After making fun pillows for <a href="http://quiltingbarbie.blogspot.ca/2013/05/a-fun-swap.html">a swap</a>, I was finally inspired to make some for us. I found an old UFO(Pillow Talk Swap from 2010 that got rejected for <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/4732860119/in/photostream/">this pillow</a>) and quilted it up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Then I picked some of my favourite blue and green prints and made a simple patchwork pillow. I found some coordinating Nicey Jane fabric for the border. I love simple patchwork. But please ignore the funny shape of this pillow. The form is weird...I really need to get a different one!<br />

We have quite a bit of family in Calgary, and fortunately, they were not immediately affected by the flooding. I am shocked at the level of destruction in Southern Alberta and my heart aches for the people who are now dealing with the receding flood waters. What I love Cheryl's idea of collecting blocks is that it is easy for us quilters to make a couple of blocks. And every block sent brings our love and prayers with it.<br />
<br />
I am pledging at least two 15.5" blocks. For all information, including block construction method, please visit <a href="http://naptimequilter.blogspot.ca/2013/06/slabs-for.html">Cheryl's blog</a>. <br />

<br />
I must admit, quilting this quilt has been an extremely frustrating experience. I thought that I had solved the problem with a larger needle, but the thread continued to break literally every 30 seconds. After I realized that the needle wasn't the problem, I spent a long time on the phone with my machine dealer in Kamloops, and he patiently walked me through every potential problem. We quickly discovered that my bobbin tension was too tight (I didn't even know that it could be adjusted!), so I was hopeful that the issue was finally resolved. Not so! Even with a larger needle, and the correct tension on both the bobbin and the top thread, I realized that my Grand Quilter hates Mettler thread.<br />

<br />
I decided to try quilting the quilt from the other side with my go-to Aurifil thread, and of course, it quilted like a dream. The only time I had to stop was when my bobbin ran out! Unfortunately, it meant a few days spent unpicking all of my stitches made with the other thread. I had only quilted 12 blocks, but it still took forever to unpick all of those stitches.<br />

I am making it for someone who loves circles, and asked for bright colours with pink, green, orange and aqua. <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Drunkards Path Quilt</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I decided to dig out my drunkard's path templates that I've had forever (mine are <a href="http://www.backporchdesign.com/templates.htm">Elisa's Backporch Design</a> in both 3.5 and 7 inches), and use only fabrics from my stash. These templates are amazing. The cutting was so quick and easy as compared to paper templates.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/8723924942/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Love these templates for cutting drunkard's path pieces. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The blocks were easier to piece than I expected (the templates came with great instructions for only using 1 pin per block). However, once I got all of the blocks made and placed out on my design wall, I hated this quilt. It just seemed much too bright. When I was picking fabrics, I really tried to mix my mostly medium tone prints with both light and dark prints, but it was difficult to do using only stash fabrics. I think now that I really needed more low volume, or even a light neutral background fabric to tone down the brightness of the quilt. </div>
<br />
I must admit, however, that it is slowly growing on me. It helps to take a step back, and to take a look at it through the camera lens. Then it is possible to see the circles, and the quilt is a little less crazy.<br />
<br />

<br />
I am now working on quilting it. But I'm having a terrible time. I bought new thread - a pretty variegated Mettler silk finish thread, and it keeps breaking. The tension doesn't seem to be the problem, so I think the needle is too small for the thicker thread. Of course, I can't buy needles for my machine locally (I need heavy duty needles for my Pfaff Grand Quilter) so I ordered some new ones today. I'll give them a try, and if that doesn't work, I'll have to change thread. <br />

In the last couple of years, I've become obsessed with Waldorf inspired dolls. Obsessed. I love that they are homemade. I love that they are all natural. I love that each one is a little piece of art. Kind of like quilts, don't you think?<br />
<br />
<div>
I don't love that they are pricey (like quilts). So at first I tried to make one. Or I did make one. She's lovely, and my daughter actually plays with her. But I discovered that I really don't like making dolls. Actually, I discovered that I really don't like hand-sewing.<br />

So, recently, to get around both having to make a doll, and having to pay for one, I did a private swap with a mama. I made her some pillows. She sent me a gorgeous <a href="http://bamboletta.com/">Bamboletta</a> Little Buddy.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/8726603415/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="Bamboletta LB by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="Bamboletta LB" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7458/8726603415_48252bfea9_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bamboletta Little Buddy</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</div>
<div>
<br />
My swap partner was the best 'customer.' She asked for bright and modern. She told me she wasn't afraid of colour. That was it. I was free to make whatever I wanted. Here's what I came up with.<br />
<br />
The first was a simple string pillow. I used Ashley's <a href="http://filminthefridge.com/2009/04/27/a-string-quilt-block-tutorial-paper-pieced-method/">tutorial</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br />
The second was a simple bright and low volume hst pillow. It feels so good to actually use some of my hoarded Denyse Schmidt fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingbarbie/8665682733/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="HST Pillow by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="HST Pillow" height="640" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8259/8665682733_0cf7680120_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Finally, I used a pattern from Amanda Jean Norberg for my last pillow. The pattern in Math Facts and it is in the <a href="http://www.shopfonsandporter.com/category/s?keyword=quilty+fall">Winter 2012 issue of quilty magazine</a>.<br />
<br />

May! Yikes. I am so sorry. I really don't know where the time goes. Or I do. It goes to ballet and highland dance lessons. Soccer. Teaching Kindergarten two afternoons a week. Making dinner. Avoiding cleaning the house. Hugging three beautiful kids. Life is wonderful and busy. I just can't seem to blog about it. But I want to.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Nicey Jane Party Dress</td></tr>

<br />
Even though I was sewing buttons on Sunday morning before Mass, I managed to finish both girls' dresses just in time. For my youngest, I used the <a href="http://thecottagehome.blogspot.ca/2011/01/party-dress-printable-pattern-and.html">Party Dress</a> free pattern and tutorial from the <a href="http://thecottagehome.blogspot.ca/">Cottage Home</a>. I made this dress once before (<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/peanutpants/7119454555/">the Easter Dress from last year that my daughter refused to wear and we now can't talk about)</a>, and it really is a fun pattern. This time I used 5 different fabrics for a less matchy, matchy look.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Party Dress by Cottage Home</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Overall, I think the dress turned out beautifully. I had to make the sash from two different fabrics (I wanted the two dresses to coordinate, but I only had a teeny bit left of the pink stripe). Next time, I won't make the bodice the way in the tutorial...I like the construction method of the Geranium Dress better. And I think I would make the skirt a wee bit less full. It is a heavy dress for a 2-year old.<br />

For Picky Pants' (she might have a new blog name), I made the ever popular <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/2012/12/geranium-dress-sewing-pattern-is-here/">Geranium Dress</a> from <a href="http://www.made-by-rae.com/">Made by Rae</a>. I've made this pattern a few times, so it went together nice and easy. Picky Pants wanted a red sash, but no bow, so I sewed some grosgrain ribbon where the two fabrics meet.<br />

And, this year, she actually wore her dress to church. She just didn't take her jacket off. And proceeded to take the dress off as soon as we got home. But she proudly announce, "I WORE it Mom." I really need to rethink sewing anything for her. Her little sister was much more agreeable. In fact, she wore it all day long and dripped chocolate all over it. All over it. Thank goodness for the washing machine.<br />

And no, I don't have any pictures of them together. I haven't been able to bribe Picky Pants into wearing her dress again. And I really couldn't wait another month to blog about them.Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-55314607740591057332013-03-25T13:28:00.002-07:002013-03-29T06:53:32.999-07:00Easter DressesWith less than a week to go before Easter, I finally settled on fabric and patterns for my girls' Easter Dresses. My oldest (almost 7) is extremly picky about her clothes. I have made more than a few dresses for her that she has never worn. In fact, last year I made the girls beautiful co-ordinating Easter dresses, and Miss C refused to wear hers. I was so mad, I told her that if she didn't wear it, I would give it away. I was hoping she wouldn't call my bluff, but she did. She told me that she wanted to give it away. So I did. Now when she is really tired or hungy, she starts crying and asking for her dress back. Oops. Sometimes I really deserve a 'bad mommy' award.<br />
<br />
But I'm still an optomist (sounds better than a fool), so I let her pick out some fabric for this year's dress. I've got my fingers crossed that she'll actually wear it. But even if she doesn't I won't give it away this year. My youngest daughter (almost 2) is much easier to please. Hopefully I'll actually get to take photos of them wearing them together.<br />

How about a quick give-away? I made an impulse buy at the grocery store the other day, the lastest issue of quilty magazine. As a full disclaimer - I've already read it - but I thought somebody else might like to read it too. It's in very good shape, I promise. And if you leave a comment, and tell me your favourite colour, I'll include a fat quarter or two with the magazine. <strike>I'll leave the give-away open until Wednesday, March 27, around lunch time.</strike><i> Thanks to everyone that entered, the give-away is now closed.</i><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Maple Leaf Rag, pattern by Sarah Fielke in Material Obsession 2</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
I am so thankful that it is done. Each and every ring has 6 different prints. That's 240 different prints! And that's not including the crazy pieced kites. And to make my day, <a href="http://www.sarahfielke.com/">Sarah Fielke</a>, the mastermind behind this gorgeous pattern even commented on one of my instagram photos. What a way to make my day!<br />
<br />
I found the perfect backing fabric on sale a while ago, Flea Market Fancy brown posies. It seems fitting to put one of my all time favourite prints on the back on one of my favourite quilts.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Maple Leaf Rag and Backing all ready for the the long-armer</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Now I have an empty design wall. (Please ignore my ironing cover...clearly I need a new one). I have so many UFO's to finish...perhaps it is time to pull out one of those?<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Blank Design Wall. What next? </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Or maybe I could start just one new project?<br />
<br />
Thanks for enduring all of the posts about this quilt. I dropped it off to a local long-armer on Tuesday, so I should have some finished pictures to share soon.<br />

<br />
But as you probably know, I am TERRIBLE at making decisions. So I need some help. Here are the two options for the swap:<br />
<br />
<b>Option A:</b> Everyone buys 1 yard/metre, and cuts into 56 squares. We'd aim for 28 swappers, so everyone would get 56 charms, 2 of each print.<br />
<br />
<b>Option B:</b> Everyone buys 2 half yards/metres, and cuts each into 24 squares. We'd aim for 24 swappers and everyone would get 48 different charms.<br />
<br />
Which one suits you best???<br />
<br />
Thanks for your help.Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-90617133539669378102013-02-07T09:20:00.000-08:002013-02-07T09:25:57.404-08:00A Wonky Quilt and a new SwapHello Friends! And Happy February. How is it already February? And time to set goals for A Lovely Year of Finishes. As you probably could have guessed, I didn't actually get my quilt top done for January. But I did get all of the blocks made. So it I'm carrying it forward for February.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Maple Leaf Rag Quilt - all the blocks are finally finished!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
My goal for February is to get my Maple Leaf quilt top and backing finished. I've actually started sewing a few of the blocks together, and it is one wonky quilt. The wonkiest I've ever made. And it isn't supposed to be a wonky quilt. Oh well. I'm just going to go for it.<br />
<br />
And I am so excited to be in a <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/2124547@N25/">new swap</a> on flickr. Since it was a US only swap, I was so excited when<a href="http://oneygirl-myquiltingadventure.blogspot.ca/"> Leona</a> let me participate. (Never mind that I begged :)) But <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/32474418@N04/">Katy</a> and I were thinking that maybe we could start up our own Canadian Edition. What do you think? Do you want to swap some text charms?<br />

We are thinking that we will aim for 28 Canadian swappers. If we all buy 2 half metres of fabric, we can swap 56 charms. What do you think? Any interest?<br />

My daughter is dancing the Cake Walk on Saturday at Robbie Burns Night. So in the last week, I've made a circle skirt, a pair of short pants and a vest. I upcycled my old Highland costume from when I was a kid to make the skirt and vest. And I used a cute dark blue corduroy for the pants. Please cross your fingers that they will all fit. I only have 5 days until the big show! (I think I'm more nervous about the costumes than my daughter is about the dancing). I used <a href="http://bubblemylicorice.blogspot.ca/2012/10/hello-guys-here-it-is-super-ultimate.html">these</a> <a href="http://www.danamadeit.com/2010/09/the-circle-skirt-tutorial.html">tutorials</a> for the skirt (I used a band rather than an elastic waist), <a href="http://www.printsew.com/user/new2_popup_pattern-details.php?brand=bur&model=2622">Burda 2622</a> for the vest, and <a href="http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6143-products-11157.php?page_id=494">McCalls M6143</a> for the pants. However, since making the skirt, I found this <a href="http://www.sewpony.blogspot.ca/2013/01/how-to-make-circle-skirt.html">great tutorial</a> on <a href="http://www.sewpony.blogspot.ca/">Sew Pony</a>, and I would use it next time.<br />
<br />
I did manage to get a couple of webs done.
But realistically, I doubt I'll get the quilt top done this month. And I think I'm okay with that. It has been so long in the making, I'd rather not rush it at the very end just to get it done.<br />

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments on my last post, and I am so sorry I didn't get a chance to reply. Please know that I love all of your comments, and my goal this year is to be a better communicator. So that means responding to comments too. I am a work in progress.<br />

Are you? I mean, if there is a group, any group, I usually want to be part of it. Lately I've tried really hard not to join every quilt-along that is in progress. (And I am forcing myself to sit on my hands to avoid the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/scrappytripalong/">Scrappy Trip Along</a>...have you seen <a href="http://lucyandnorman.blogspot.ca/2013/01/and-what-trip-its-been.html">these</a> <a href="http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2013/01/the-scrappy-trip-along-quilt.html">quilts</a>? They are stunning!) But I found a group that I think it a good fit for me today. So I'm joining.<br />

It's called <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/alovelyyearoffinishes/">A Lovely Year of Finishes</a> and it is hosted by <a href="http://blog.sewbittersweetdesigns.com/">Melissa</a> and <a href="http://fiberofallsorts.blogspot.ca/">Shanna</a>. Each month you just pick just one thing to finish. Then you blog about it, finish it, blog about it again, and link up. I'm hoping it will help me to actually get things done. I love the idea of focusing on just one finish each month.<br />

In January, my goal is to finish my Maple Leaf Rag quilt top. This baby has been over a year in the making, so it is time to finally finish it. I am trying to use my most favourite and hoarded fabrics. It is so satisfying to see them all together in one quilt. <br />
<br />
Here are some blocks in progress:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My favourite so far. Love the HR, FMF, and Red & Aqua. Sorry for the fuzzy photo!</td></tr>

I am going to splurge and have this top long arm quilted, so finishing to top is a huge step in finishing this quilt.<br />

We did. We took full advantage of our last weekend before everything starts up again. Skating outside on a beautiful community rink, lots of sledding, and even an afternoon of cross-country skiing. And I even had some time to sew. My husband has been so helpful lately in giving me chunks of time to just sew. And the kids are getting some quality time with their dad. What could be better?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Don't you love that hint of orange peaking through?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Today I am happy because I finally made and mailed an Amy Butler Birdie Sling that has been on my to do list for way, way too long. Like 2 years too long. The back story is that my mom's friend bought me the pattern and asked me to make one for her. This same friend knits gorgeous socks and sweaters for my kids. I will often go to the mailbox and find 2 or 3 pairs of hand knit socks waiting for me. So I felt a ton of pressure. That put me back 6 months.<br />
<br />
Then I had to choose some fabric. I know what I like, but I have so much trouble choosing for someone else. That part delayed me for at least a year. I finally settled on some Amy Butler Love for the main and handle, and a fun orange kona solid (sorry I forget the name) for the inside. <br />
<br />
I know everyone and their dog has made a Birdie Sling, but it has always intimidated me. I made her Nappy Bag a few years ago, and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. But when my mom was visiting at Christmas time (read: entertaining all three kids), I managed to cut out all of the fabric, interfacing and fusible fleece. That was the hardest part. Then after she left, I just had to sew it together. And to be honest, it went together pretty well.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/35316567@N02/8345519659/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="AB Birdie Sling by Quilting Barbie, on Flickr"><img alt="AB Birdie Sling" height="800" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8219/8345519659_42b03614d6_c.jpg" width="530" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">AB Birdie Sling made with AB Love fabric</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The only part I'm not thrilled with is the final top-stitching on the top edge of the bag (notice there is no close up picture). I had a heck of time getting it nice and straight. And I probably should have taken it out and tried again, but I was just so happy that it was done, that I didn't bother. And I didn't want to risk another 6 months. Hopefully she doesn't look too close.<br />
<br />
So the final verdict on this pattern is a thumbs up. I like the size of the bag, and the round shape and pleats make it quite stylish. I didn't love the top stitching, but I think if I use thinner fusible interfacing it will go better next time. Next time? Yup, I think I'll make another. Hopefully it won't take me 2 years to make!Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-70494920881078372452012-12-30T06:58:00.002-08:002012-12-30T06:58:36.005-08:00Hello Friends!I think I am going to try blogging again. I miss it. And I miss the thoughtful and encouraging support of the online quilting/sewing community. I'm not making any lofty goals this time around, I am just going to enjoy the process.<br />

This is what I am working on right now:<br />

What are you working on right now?Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03845087819867277888noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171875653750978332.post-63165674643836918802012-09-17T13:19:00.002-07:002012-09-20T08:32:14.267-07:00Destash! ***Thank you everyone for checking out my destash, but everything is now sold. I hope to add more soon. ****<br />
<br />
Hello Everyone! I am just popping back into this little blog to do a quick destash. I am going to try it first here, and depending on how things work out, I may move it to etsy at a later time. I've never sold anything before so please be patient with me!<br />
<br />
I am currently overwhelmed by my stash. I have too much fabric and not enough time. And some of these lovelies I just can't seem to cut into. Maybe they will inspire you. I am hoping to raise some funds to buy my son a waldorf doll. <br />
<br />
I hope that the prices are fair. Please know that most of these fabrics are long out of print, and many of them I purchased in Canada where fabric is way, way too expensive. I know the Heather Ross is ridiculously expensive, but I tried to lower the going rate from etsy a little bit.<br />
<br />
I am happy to combine shipping and I will refund any shipping overages.<br />
<br />
If you would like to purchase something, it will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please leave a comment and I will then email you an invoice. Thanks for looking!<br />

All fabric comes from my stash. We are a smoke free, dog friendly house. Our black lab, Trooper, is mainly an outdoor dog and doesn't come in the sewing room. But hey, you never know....<br />
<br />
Also all fabric ships from Canada. Canada Post charges and arm and a leg for shipping. I am sorry!<br />
<br />
****The above shipping costs are to US/Canada with no insurance. If you would like insurance or to mail overseas, please let me know in your comment and I will work out actual shipping costs before invoicing.****<br />
<br />
Please feel free to email me with any questions.<br />
