ORB Quilt Along

Marianne sent me some photos of my quilt...Here it is in the long-arm machine: Here is the quilting up close. We chose a pantograph called "Fantasia" - I love it. Marianne quilted it with a pink and brown variegated thread. I'm hoping that the brown will help to tie the brown fabrics in with all the white and pink.
Here is an close up of the back. I used my left-over pieces to piece the back together. I chose a Sandi Henderson print for the back. I love how you can see the quilting in the white.
And here it is all ready to be bound. Can't wait to get it back in the mail so I can see it in person. Thanks again Marianne.

A Star for Donna

Here is the star that I made for Donna for bee inspired.

I think I probably should have reversed the darks and the brights because they seem to compete a bit too much, but overall I'm happy with it. And I'm getting much better at making my blocks a true 12.5" square. Yay.

And my Old Red Barn Quilt is now at Marianne's to be long-arm quilted. Yay! I am so excited to see it....

Beautiful Butterfly

I received my mini quilt from the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap on Friday. Alex made it just for me and I love it. I love the butterfly. I love the bright colours. I love the flowers on the back.Alex also included a copy of sweet horse fabrics...I'm going to save them for a 'retro cowboy' quilt for my son.
Thank you Alex!

All Sewn Up!

I finished my quilt top for Old Red Barn's Quilt along last night. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results. I did learn a few things:
  • I'm not very good at random (I couldn't help but get a couple of the same fabrics touching)

  • I sew just a little more carefully when I know that somebody other than myself is going to see the back (thanks again Marianne!)

  • I really do love bright colours!

And Marianne, from Marianne Penner Designs in Abbotsford, BC, has just started her own blog. Marianne is the long-arm quilter who offered free long-arm quilting to one ORB participant - and I won! Please go and say hello! Thanks again Marianne for such a generous give-away!

Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap

I finished my mini quilt for the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap hosted by the Quilting Gallery. My partner asked for shabby chic. I love the crinkles out of the dryer.
It is off in the mail on Monday.

I won!

I am almost too excited for words...almost.

I just won FREE long-arm quilting by Marianne Penner Design in Abbotsford, BC for my quilt-along quilt. She offered free long-arm quilting to the first person to email her and I just happened to be online. Yay! I can't believe my good fortune! I'm a few hours away, but with a couple of trips planed to the coast this summer it should work out perfectly.

She has an amazing list of pantographs to choose from....if you want your quilt done, email her at dmpenn@telus.net Check out Marianne's Flickr page (Flickr name: maripenquiltmom).

I'm in...

I couldn't resist. I joined Old Red Barn's quilt-along. I couldn't resist the chance to win a new sewing machine. And besides that, I'm just a joiner. I like to be part of a group.

I bought my fabrics from Pink Panda Fabrics on etsy. Dana at Old Red Barn gives more chances to win if you use Paula Prass fabric, so I used some of the money my mom gave me for my birthday to get some new fabric. I recommend Cheryl's Pink Panda Fabrics any day. She really helped me select my fabric, then sent a half yard of a fabric when I only ordered a Fat Quarter. And she also gave really generous cuts and sent some scraps of fabric I didn't order so that I could see what it was like. I was impressed! And better yet, she's in Canada so I saved myself some money on shipping.
I've already cut my strips!
I'm off to sew!

Hiya I'm Tacha from the UK but I now live in Berlin, Germany. I am totally obsessed with all fabric. But my daughter is totally obsessed with horses and would absolutely kill for the West Hill fabric. And she is 3 1/2 years old. A perfect fit. So I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Congrats Natasha! I'm so happy a fellow member of bee inspired won! Since I already have your address, I'll ship your daughter her shirt and fabric right away. And I may even have some of the pink horses for her too...

Thanks again to everyone who entered!
