I made it for a friend for a trade. And I got a guitar! Yup, pretty good trade, eh? I LOVE the barter system. Anyway, she asked for brown and cream and I decided to put a cute little flower on it.
Happy New Year Everyone! I'm hoping to bring in 2010 at my sewing machine. No exciting plans but I'm secretly excited to just spend some time sewing. We spent the afternoon X-Country skiing around our field.

I whipped this up last night and I still haven't decided if I want it crisp or if I should wash it and make in nice and crinkly. So I reserve the right to wash it before I mail it. If you are absolutely opposed to this please let me know in your comment. And I'll throw in a couple of Fat Quarters too.
But I didn't feel like making a practical gift, I'm always practical...
I used a great pattern from Rebeka Lambert, artsy-crafty babe, that I found at Sew, Mama, Sew. I haven't made too many bags in my life, so I was pretty happy with how this came together. Fabric is Flights of Fancy by Paula Prass.
There are a few puckers around the inside of the bag, but since the outside is flat, I can live with a few puckers. It is homemade, after all.
Sew, Mama, Sew announced their Give-away Day for December 2. Any ideas what I should give away? Fabric? Something homemade? I'd love some ideas! Something easy, but also something that people will want....
Anyway, I used the free pattern from Kellie at Don't Look Now. I love her patterns and quilts.
The backing and binding is Bot Camp by Michael Miller that I got on a smoking deal from here.
I thought that this could be a place mat or a wall hanging. I'll let Kai decide.

Here's my FMF stash that I bought recently on etsy. LOVE those colours....now I just have to be brave enough to cut into it...
She included some fabulous goodies too. Charm squares by Robyn Pandolph which are so soft and sweet they will be perfect for a baby quilt. And a sweet cat applique- my daugter has claimed the lovely pink sequins for herself. And some pins. A girl can never have enough pins.

I think some of the Munki shirts may get sent as presents to some of my friends who have had babies recently. There seems to be a ton of new babies in our world these days. And isn't that wonderful???
And some yummy fabrics for me! I'm so excited to have a wee bit of gnomes and mushrooms!
And even tried my machine binding again. It really helped that the binding and the backing are the same fabric - it hides most of the oops!

I finished it too late for Canadian Thanksgiving, but we will be able to enjoy it the week before Halloween. 
I'm so happy with how this turned out, I really think I need some trees for Christmas.
Between this table runner and my placemats for the placemat swap, I'm practicing my machine binding. It isn't pretty, but I am getting better. And it sure beats doing it by hand! 
Yes, I decided to jump on the FMF band wagon. 
How could I resist? Really...
I can't wait to get this quilt together. 
I made this mini quilt for Hayley at Lulabell for DQS7. She asked for bright colours, birds, animals or flowers. 
Hayley is an amazing quilter and does lots of work in the Don't Look Now style, so I wanted to make something beautiful for her. I dug into my scrap bin for some of my favourite fabrics, made some log cabins, and worked on my raw edge applique and free-motion quilting.
My husband didn't want me to give it away. 
But I was so happy to send it to Hayley and I'm thrilled that she likes it. And thank you to Hayey at Lulabell for the gorgeous photos!
So here she is...my nine-patch from CrazyMomQuilts 1st round quilt along. I finally got the sashing cut and pinned...I hate cutting sashing along the length of fabric. It makes me nervous.
Now I just have to decide if I want to just add a long sashing strip to the right side (then both sides would be a wee bit different) or cut off the sashing strips on the left and add long sashing to both sides. Hmmm...I know what I should do but as always that is more work!

First is my DQS7 quilt for my partner.
I even made my first hanging sleeve. It was easier than I thought. Just have to make a label and collect some goodies to send. 
Second, my Good Ol' Summertime Mini Quilt Swap. This little mermaid is swimming off to my partner tomorrow as soon as I make a label.
And finally, my wonky stars for Rachel for our Stash Busting Bee International. They were a blast to make and a great use of little scraps of favourite fabrics. I like the 6.5" size much better than the 12.5". I'll have to add it to the list of must makes...

Not too bad considering my husband was away for a week and I've had a house FULL of visitors. I'm going to keep working on those WIPs though. NO NEW PROJECTS :(
